Google salta al mercado de los móviles

La compañía lanza el sistema Android, una plataforma basada en “software” libre, junto a fabricantes y operadoras.

En su afán por diversificar sus áreas de negocio, Google lanzará un sistema operativo abierto para móviles, llamado Android, y que estará disponible como código abierto mediante la licencia Apache v2.

Esta plataforma es, según la compañía, un “paquete de software” para móviles que incluye aplicaciones fáciles de usar con el objetivo de “optimizar la experiencia de Internet en el móvil”. Se prevé que los primeros teléfonos basados en Android aparezcan durante la segunda mitad de 2008.

Este nuevo sistema lo hace posible una alianza -Open Handset-, que lidera el gigante de la Red y está formada por 34 empresas. Entre ellas, los fabricantes Samsung, HTC, LG Electronics y Motorola, y operadoras como Telefónica, China Mobile, T-Mobile o HTT-DoCoMo, y compañias como Qualcomm e Intel.
