El grupo editorial RCS ha anunciado el próximo nombramiento de la historiadora Carmen Iglesias como presidenta de la nueva Unidad Editorial.
Carmen Iglesias fue la cuarta mujer en acceder a la Real Academia Española desde su fundación y es también miembro de la Academia de la Historia. Fue directora del Centro de Estudios PolÃticos Constitucionales y como tal la primera mujer con asiento en el Consejo de Estado.
Además es autora de importantes obras de pensamiento sobre Montesquieu y el siglo de las luces. Es también catedrática de Historia de las Ideas, ha sido comisaria de algunas de las más importantes exposiciones históricas que se han celebrado en España en los últimos años y fue la profesora particular de Historia del PrÃncipe Felipe.
La nueva Unidad Editorial es el resultado de la absorción del grupo Recoletos, por parte de Unedisa, empresa que fundó hace 18 años el diario EL MUNDO. Ha quedado configurada como el grupo lÃder de la prensa diaria y la prensa electrónica en lengua castellana y afronta también un importante desarrollo en el sector audiovisual.
Complementariamente a esta decisión el Consejo de Administración de Unidad Editorial nombrará, a propuesta del director de EL MUNDO, al profesor Jorge de Esteban como presidente del Consejo Editorial del diario. El profesor De Esteban es uno de los más eminentes catedráticos españoles de Derecho Constitucional y ha ocupado hasta ahora la presidencia de Unedisa.
El Presidente de RCS, Piergaetano Marchetti, aseguró tras el nombramiento que “estamos muy honrados de que una persona con la talla moral e intelectual de Carmen Iglesias haya aceptado la posición de presidenta de Unidad Editorial. El prestigio y el reconocimiento de la nueva presidenta constituirán un gran estÃmulo al desarrollo del Grupo”.
El Director General Editorial de Unidad Editorial y fundador de EL MUNDO, Pedro J. RamÃrez, comentó que “el nombramiento de Carmen Iglesias es un motivo de alegrÃa y orgullo en la medida en que va a fortalecer decisivamente nuestro proyecto intelectual y va a suponer un estÃmulo muy grande para todos los profesionales de la compañÃa.
